Press breakfast

We held a press breakfast to launch Larry And Janet Move Out at Mamuśka! in Elephant and Castle. It was lovely to catch up with Larry and Janet, their former next door neighbour Enid, and Larry’s sister Liz, all former Heygate residents.

The launch was a great success, with write-ups in The Guardian, Southwark News, and Reuters, the latter of which was syndicated to the Times Of India.

And it was good to hold it in Mamuśka! as during the shooting of the film, back in 2010, the crew regularly used the restaurant as a place to meet and grab a tasty meal.

Screening on the estate

Just before the Heygate Estate was demolished, we were invited by the remaining residents to screen our short film about Doreen Gee, the former chair of the Tenants and Residents Association. We screened it on a makeshift stage to around 50 people on a warmish evening surrounded by the empty flats and houses in the darkness. It was documented by betterelephant.org, which also picked up on an interview by one of the filmmakers for BBC London News.
